VERB + ཡག་

I LIKE DOING… / DOING IS…
Verb + ཡག་ + ལ་ / དེ་ + …
Short form : Verb + ཡ་ · Not after : want, can, need, know how to, be allowed
  • ཡག་ turns a verb into a noun, “the act of doing”, so the action can stand in the middle of the sentence as the thing you like, fear or find important.
  • ཡག་ + ལ་ goes before a feeling or a quality (དགའ་པོ་ “like”, དཀའ་ལས་ཁག་པོ་ “difficult”). When the action is the subject, ཡག་ + དེ་ is common.
  • The verb before ཡག་ is always in its plain present form. Verbs of wanting, being able, needing, knowing how to and being allowed do not take ཡག་.
  • ཡག་པོ་ “good”, ཡག་ག “better” and ཡག་ཤོས “best” are another word : they are not the ཡག་ of this card.
  • ཡ་ is a short spelling of ཡག་ (ལྟ་ཡ་རག = ལྟ་ཡག་རག). For “something to do”, see the card “THERE IS SOMETHING TO DO…”; for “will do”, see “I'M GOING TO…”; for “the knife for cutting”, see “A KNIFE FOR CUTTING, A PLAN TO GO…”.
